Italy’s U23 women’s team – heading to Bosnia!

Itay U23 teamWe recently had the opportunity to get acquainted with the Italian U23 women’s team and their expectations for the trip to the WRC R4. Now we will ask them a few questions about their planned trips to the Euro Champs.

They provided us with a gritty performance at the R4 Euro Cup in Wildalpen, Austria, where they competed in the Open Women’s category as the only U23 team. There they secured themselves a great fourth place amongst the more experienced and older ladies. So we asked Marianna Tedeschi something about it.

Was the race at EC Wildalpen part of your training for the R4 Euro Champs?

Actually we decided to go to Wildalpen just a few days before the competition; just to see what level we are compared to other countries. It turned out to be a great training session for the other competitions. The course is really nice and didactically perfect, I mean you can try everything safely, like surfing many times in that hole; the slalom was beautiful.” – The track on the River Vrbas is similar, so you will have an opportunity there for a good workout and enjoyment.

In Bosnia it is an R6 competition, how will your team be composed?

“We decided together with our coaches to create a mixed team so we have 3 of us that were in Wildalpen and other 3 girls: Linda Maffina, Martina Valli and Jasmine Zurlini. Linda and Martina middle left and right and Jasmine front right.”

What are your expectations for this competition?

“As we compete as an under 23 team we hope to have some competing teams in that division. We hope that it is more than 3 teams so that there will be a nice sense of competition. We will surely do our best to win! ;)”

Are you going early to better familiarize yourself with the river?

“We ‘re going to leave from Italy on the 19 of May so we’re going to have a few days to familiarize with the river! ;)”
