Netherland Ladies – coming to WRC 2015!

Woo-hoo-hoo, the Netherland girls are coming to the 2015 WRC!! We missed them in Bosnia at the Euro Championship, that’s for sure. What a group of happy, smiling, lovely girls. I was lucky to hang out with them this year on several occasions, and so can you now in Indonesia. ;)

NOW 1We talked with them before they will set off for this great event. Team member Nina Hansen set aside time to fill us in about her team which will be representing the Netherlands in the Open Women’s category.

Nina, who makes up your NED OW team?

“Our team members are: Ella Oesterholt, Anne Reijntjes, Lisa Ashmann, Fleur Boll, Marlies Van den Berge and myself

You are a mixture of two teams, if I’m not mistaken, how did that come about?

“The love for white water and the thrill of paddling around the world is what brought our team together. We all have been rafting for several years, but our earlier teams stopped after an unforgettable time together. Because the microbe of competition rafting wouldn’t let us go we created a whole new team.”

NOW 4How are you preparing for the WRC?

“We’ve been training together every week and had a great time already at Lee Valley London and our training weekend in France.”

What is your goal at this competition? Will you be able to go to Indonesia earlier to prepare and adapt?

“At the World Champs in Indonesia we will bring it on and give you our best. We will arrive a week beforehand so that we can prepare well for the competition.”

NOW 2Is there anything in particular you want to experience and see in Indonesia?

“We are very excited to be out with the girls, exploring new rivers, a new country, being re-united with paddling friends and meeting new people. Simply living the paddling life to the fullest again.” – Amen to that! :)

Sponsors that you would like to thank?

“We want to thank FramCon ICT Services for helping us get to the World Championship this year! Thank you so much!”

NOW 3The Open Women’s categroy this year will be refreshing with plenty of new faces, teams that are formed by the principle: “2-into-1” or even “3-into-1”, so it is not easy to predict the final result, which gives additional charm to this category. NED OW team will surely win you over with their cheerful spirit, but from “Start” to “Finish” they will fight like lionesses and give of their best, so be prepared for these girls.

Keep your smile and have a good stroke, girls!
