Youth teams soon to challenge for coveted title of World Rafting Champs

Its just over a month away from the Youth World Rafting Champs being held in the Czech Republic  on the Ceske Budejovice artificial course. This event runs from the 23 – 28 August and has 20 confirmed teams attending.

Brasil Men, 2011 World Champs in R6 (6-man rafts), will be defending their title against Russia, who were the 2010 World Champs in the R4 (4-man rafts). With 12 men’s teams attending it looks to be a great and challenging event. The 12 youth men’s teams attending are: Brasil, Bulgaria, Czech, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Russia, Serbia, Slovenia and Turkey.

The 2010 winners of the first Youth WRC in 2010 – Netherlands, do not have a team this year and as there were no winners in 2011 as not enough teams could attend the event in Costa Rica, the title is definitely up for grabs for a new team. The 8 youth women’s teams attending are: Brasil, Czech, Germany, Italy, Russia, Serbia, Slovenia and Venezuela.

Last years winners can be seen here in action on the Pacuare River in Costa Rica.
