How to get there: The Struma river is in southwest Bulgaria. The nearest towns to the biggest gorge are Simitli and Kresna. It is located on road E79. The best way to get there is by your own transport.
River Description: The river is grade 3 in the spring time with a section of class 3+,4 rapids. The first section has nine really nice and fun rapids grade 2-3. Then you must scout or skip the next two rapids”-Two by four”/witch is a really nice rapid-class 3/ and after that “The Kazan”/a class 3+ or 4, it depends/ . You can carry your boats near the road.And the second section after “Kazan” starts with a really long/1km/ rapid with a couple more grade 2-3 rapids after it. The exit is 2km after the motels by the road. You go under a concrete bridge for village “Oshtava” and stop to the left side of the river. The main road is 100 meters away.
The length of the trip is 1.30 to 2.00 hours. It is perfect for rafters and kayakers. A lot of nice spots with big waves.
