The Dalaman River is in southwest Turkey . about 1,5 hours from the tourist resorts of Marmaris and Fethiye, 3 hours from Bodrum and Kas..
Dalaman Airport is the nearest airport which is served by charter flights from all over Europe during the months May to October. The river base is 50 km’s from the Airport.
The Dalaman River used to have three sections that were suitable for rafting. Due to construction of a dam in finished in 2001, we still have two sections left. The put in is reached by driving up into the mountain and experiencing real Turkish village scenery. Since 2007 this section has been dam release.
The main rafting river, low volume technical pool drops, is generally class 3 but with one class 4 rapid. The high water season is April to May but the river is runnable all year round.
The trip about 3 / 3,5 hours and it is suitable for rafts and kayaks.
The third section of the river is about the same length, starting further upstream. This headwater trip has been described by someone who know as some of the best technical rafting to be had. The main section is about 2 kms long of class 4 / 4+. This part of the river is usually done as an overnight trip. At the start of this section another dam has been started in Nov 2008.
