Nepal anyone?

There is a great opportunity  for white water action in Nepal late November…. firstly there is the Himalayan White Water Festival and straight after that an opportunity to get your IRF Safety Kayaker & Trip Leader Assessments.

The Himalayan Whitewater Festival is fast becoming Asia’s largest whitewater festival. The 4th festival will be run from the 26th to 29th of November 2014. (Details and schedule)

Nepal is once again becoming the Mecca of outdoor adventures & whitewater paddling after a decade of political instability. In the last 4 years this event has attracted from 37 to 97 participants, both national and international athletes, as well as national and international tourists travelling within Nepal.

Last year, the first Rafting Championship attracted a total of 14 teams. This year this discipline will be offering more categories and the winning team will become the Himalayan Whitewater Rafting Champions.

International media attention is also growing and this year the event will be covered by: The Paddler Magazine, The Outdoor Journal, Kayak Session, etc…

Besides rafting, the HWW Festival 2014 will have Men’s, Women’s and Junior categories in multiple disciplines such as Boater Cross, Freestyle, Downriver, Slalom in kayaks.

And then the IRF certifications – from 1 to 2 Dec there is a Safety Craft training program in kayaks on the Marshyangdhi River (where HWWF is being held) followed by a Guide & Trip leader workshop for class 4-5 from the 3 to 5. Contact Instructor Mark Hirst for more info.
