Return to raft racing - Troja Cup

Euro Cup 2020 Series overall results

With the final Euro Cup event recently concluding in Serbia, the overall standings in the Euro Cup 2020 R6 and R4 Series can now be concluded.

EC Ibar Serbia 2020Events

A strange season it certainly was! The first event was eventually held in late August in the Czechia, and the last was held mid November in Serbia, a short four month season. In the end only Serbia and Czechia managed to hold events, with all others being cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic restrictions. The R6 series saw events in Troja and Lipno in Czechia, and Ibar in Serbia. The R4 series saw events in Lipno and Trnavka in Czechia, and Lim in Serbia.

Devils Stream - Vasek 1Teams

It was very hard for teams to travel with borders opening and closing, and restrictions changing at the last minute. The majority of the teams were therefore Czechs and Serbians. But credit must go to RT AKV who managed to get to the R6 Troja event in Prague, and to Peter’s team who managed to get to Lipno to race on the Devil’s Stream in R4 and R6 – both teams from Germany. And RK Dajak Klub from BiH managed to get to EC Ibar in Serbia, which was well worth it for them as they won all four disciplines which put them at the top of the R6 Series scoreboard with 1000 points!

Overall placings

In the Men’s R4 category the teams that raced at the Lim event in Serbia (Aleksa Kojadinovic Memorial Euro Cup) had a definite advantage this year as the event provided them with 4 disciplines to get points. It was Eko Lim that took the top spot with 972 points, with Su Soko Lim in 2nd and Lim Lucice in 3rd. In R6 we see RK Dajak in the top spot as mentioned, and PRSI Team MB in 2nd and Let-Gun Letohrad M in 3rd.

Euro Cup TrnávkaThe women’s categories had a disappointing turn out. In the R6 Series TR Omega Tygrici took the title with 884 which they collected at Troja and Lipno. RK Troja Ženy took 2nd and Pampelisky Yes took 3rd, all three teams from Czechia. RK Kebone Polumir from Serbia were the only ones at Ibar. In the R4 Series Kocicky Letohrad took the top honours with 844 points, followed by RC Juniorky Hanace, then Spitfire, Omega Tygrici, Troja- Coromoro and Troja Baywatch all from Czechia.

End of European Season

That seems to be the end of the racing season now in Europe. Thanks to Czech Union of Boaters (Rafting) and Rafting Association of Serbia for managing to make these events happen in these trying times! And thanks to the teams that got out there and had some racing and fun.

Organisers are already scheduling their events for next year, and with vaccines soon to be available it looks like 2021 is heading towards being more normal, we certainly hope so and hope to see you all soon on rivers around the world!
